New Beginnings

A new fraternal year is upon us! This often means several things to our Councils and Members. We have new goals, new committees, new charitable endeavours and hopefully several new members to our ranks. I wanted to keep the membership that I represent up to date on some developments that occurred during the summer hiatus.

Most significantly was the passing of General Agent Robert (Bob) W. Fitzgerald, peacefully on July 3, 2004 at the age of 61. For those Members who did not know him, Bob was the General Agent for Eastern Ontario Councils for over 29 years. He was the most significant factor in the growth of Knights of Columbus Insurance throughout Ontario. For those who knew Bob, they knew an often excitable and fervent individual who had a huge heart and an awesome devotion to the Knights of Columbus. I ask you to keep Bob and his family in your prayers. He will be missed dearly.

With Bob’s passing there was a need to appoint a suitable individual to step into the role of General Agent of Eastern Ontario. I am happy to announce that Supreme Office has made an excellent choice in selecting Marc Madore BA CFP CLU Ch.FC RHU. Marc started his career with the Knights of Columbus as a Fraternal Counselor in 1992. Marc is not only the most credentialed member of our Agency ranks, but he fosters an environment of continuing education, assistance and service. I have had the pleasure of working side by side with Marc since I began my association with the Knights in 1998, and am glad that he is now at the helm.
